iPhone 12 Pro review: everything your eyes can see (and more)

The new iPhones have arrived and - unsurprisingly - they are packed with the latest technology: improved cameras, brighter and more resistant screens, 5G connectivity enabled. What more could we ask for? The new conductor is the extremely powerful A14 Bionic chip, a prodigy that with its billions of operations per second could well be from Cupertino or extraterrestrial.
Really: what more do you want? A free iPhone repair Vancouver. You won't get it here. Go to a shop called Cell Care Phone repair.

The best possible performance coupled with the best screen for your video games; the best camera to take the best photos and film festival-worthy cinematic pieces. With 5G, in addition, Apple puts its two feet in the future that should already be present, but that has not yet completely arrived (or well).
Can Apple make a better phone every year than the last? Well, that's the best. If we think about it, they have no other choice. More than a race, this is a flight forward for all manufacturers, and each new chip, screen, and the camera can only be better than the previous ones.
Will a definitive ceiling be reached? Who knows. Maybe Someday. Of course: for now, that ceiling is set by Apple.
Something is missing here. The information was immediately mocked by the competition: the new four iPhone 12 models will come without a charger or headphones. The reasons? It is not just a matter of saving –which is also–, but also environmental: there would be more than 2 billion chargers and 700 million ear pods around the world. We are talking about kilometers and kilometers of cables, and thousands of tons of material not entirely harmless to the planet. "Do we really need more?" Seems to be the question asked and answered with a resounding "no" at Apple, and they are largely right. But not quite, in our opinion.
Those of us who are dedicated to covering technology news and events have a lot of chargers, cables, headphones, and other products that many manufacturers leave us for our reviews. There is also a percentage of consumers - which are not the majority, far from it - who change their phone every one or two years. But it turns out that a large portion of the population - a large portion of iPhone users - haven't renewed their phone in years. In a quick survey of well-known iPhones, most have iPhones 8, 7, even first-generation iPhones 6 and SE. Many damaged or lost the headphones that came in the box, and the passage of the years tend to take a toll on the chargers, especially if you only have ONE.

In short: that Apple's reasons may be noble, and some will not affect us: but they will leave a grimace of anger in the vast majority of users who have been enduring years with their older models and who, perhaps just now, hoped to renew their terminal

5G, design and display

Apple's first 5G iPhones are a beauty. Or maybe our eyes have already gotten bored of those curved edges that they have been seeing from the iPhone 6. And yes, maybe it is a purely subjective question, but these new flat edges - similar to the iPad Air - distinguish the iPhone 12 from virtually all cell phones circulating the world. They look different, and that's already a sales pitch.
Perhaps a visual effect coup to alleviate the few interior novelties?
No way.
Both the iPhone 12 Pro and iPhone Pro 12 Pro Max feature - in addition to these flat stainless steel edges - a textured rear glass. On the front, Apple tells us that its Ceramic Shield is 4 times stronger than the glass on any smartphone. The IP68 rating for water resistance remains, although now you can dive with it up to 20 feet for 30 minutes. If the above seems too far-fetched, you may be interested to know that they also resist accidental spills of liquids such as coffee, tea, and soft drinks. Plus, iPhone 12 Pro is available in four gorgeous colors: Graphite, Silver, Gold, and the new Pacific Blue you see in these photos:

The iPhone 12 comes with a 6.1-inch Super Retina XDR display that also offers a contrast ratio of 2 million to 1. And what does this mean? That true blacks reproduce incredible detail even in dark areas of photos and videos. Each OLED pixel has its own individual light source for true blacks, without affecting the brightness of other pixels. Thus, when viewing HDR photos or videos, the Super Retina XDR display can increase brightness up to 1200 nits, allowing movies to look more realistic than ever.

With native support for Dolby Vision, HDR10, and HLG, any movie or series looks amazingly good on iPhone 12 Pro. As the screen's dynamic range increases - to support HDR's highest brightness peaks - there's greater use of low gray levels. Calibration is more accurate, which results in more accurate nuances.

5G connectivity works ... if there is 5G where you are, of course. We have been testing this unit in Downtown Brooklyn, NYC, and we have seen download times higher than we were used to with LTE / 4G, that without a doubt.

Camera

A new versatile camera system with Ultra Wide, Wide and Telephoto lenses coupled with A14 Bionic technology offers more control and enhances every photo and video you take. The premise is simple: every photo you take must be the best possible, and the truth is that the iPhone 12 Pro's camera has convinced us, and quite a lot.
In bright sunshine and relatively clean air, just about any camera from the last three or four years will get good photos. It is with the lack of light where you can see "the seams" of the cameras that do not respond so well. This is not the case with the iPhone 12 Pro camera, which with its night mode offers 27% improved performance in low light in photos and videos. Plus, the panoramic camera's Optical Image Stabilization (OIS) system performs 5,000 micro-adjustments per second, all for incredible night-mode shots and more stable video. Night mode is also automatically activated, providing detailed, brighter images with natural colors.

Not only is the Deep Fusion system now better and faster, but it is also available on all iPhone 12 Pro cameras. It uses machine learning in the Neural Engine for pixel-by-pixel processing of photos with details, textures, and minimal noise. Along with this, the Smart HDR system uses machine learning to "understand" scenes and apply selective adjustments to different parts of the photo, providing more lifelike images, even when scenes may appear complex.
My pulse, obviously, is not the best here, but there was very little light and, even so, the camera was able to delineate (in part) the faces of the musicians who were quite a few meters away. Not to mention the bridge.
The LiDAR thing is another story. This Light Detection And Ranging scanner measure how long it takes for light to reflect off a surface, using this pixel depth information to create individual measurements and - literally - create a depth map of the scene. LiDAR offers faster and more realistic Augmented Reality experiences, but even more, it dramatically improves autofocus in low-light scenes for greater precision and shortened capture time in photos. This scanner, combined with the lenses and the Neural Engine in A14 Bionic, can identify the subject and the background and produce a stunning night mode photo with incredible detail and realistic colors. In the photo below, not only was there little ambient light, but there was also a soft haze falling over Manhattan.
As for the front camera, the iPhone 12 Pro's TrueDepth lens offers night mode selfies, incredible Deep Fusion images, and powerful Dolby Vision HDR recording at up to 4K at up to 30fps, if vlogs are your thing. The Lens Correction function can intelligently correct the edges of the photo for more natural-looking results. For better results, you can visit us for cell phone repair Vancouver.
The A14 Bionic is responsibleBoth the iPhone 12 Pro and iPhone 12 Pro Max feature A14 Bionic, the fastest chip in a smartphone, and the first made using 5nm process technology. What does all this translate? Where daily tasks are smoother, game graphics are even better, and machine learning takes a huge leap in overall performance.
The neural motor is capable of 11 trillion operations per second. Machine learning accelerators in the CPU run matrix math up to 70 percent faster than the previous chip, the A13. The A14 Bionic chip seamlessly couples with the iOS 14 system to create the best machine learning platform on a smartphone.
Of the iOS 14 have already spoken several times. The new iPhone 12 Pro consolidates home screen refresh with beautifully redesigned widgets and app library, new ways to use apps with app clips, and powerful Messages app updates.
MagSafe AccessoriesIf you were one of those who expected to get a new charger on the slab along with your iPhone 12 Pro, then you already know: you will have to swallow the frustration and consider buying a new one if the one you have no longer works for you. Apple still includes the USB to Lightning cable, so "only" you should get the charging adapter, which you can buy at Apple stores for about $ 20.
PowerWave Pad by Anker. Actually, there are plenty of wireless chargers for less than half the MagSafe, although - sure! - MagSafe is Apple, and for some, this is already worth the money.

The MagSafe protective cases look very good, especially the Clear Case, as it manages to highlight the design of the iPhone 12 Pro, looking like another part of the phone, something not easy to achieve. But of course: you will have to pay $ 49 for it, which is not little.
The case of the Magsafe leather wallet (or wallet) is different. It's $ 59 for an add-on that attaches magnetically - and very well, like anything MagSafe is - to the iPhone 12 Pro, with or without a protective case. It is ideal if you want to carry everything together, although if you use Apple the Apple Wallet (Apple Pay as a Tap-to pay service) it will not make much sense to carry your credit cards there, but rather your identity card or driver's license. The problem is that if you lose your phone (let's touch wood), you will also lose your documentation.

It's a matter of personal taste, of course. Whoever wrote this review always got used to keeping things separately (phone, money, documentation, keys): so if you lost one, you always had the others close at hand. But that's okay: it's an Apple design, and the acolytes of the apple will surely pay the price with pleasure, even more so considering that you can choose between four quite attractive colors.
Price and availabilityThe iPhone 12 Pro will hit stores this Friday, October 23 with a price that starts at $ 999 with 128 GB of storage, $ 1,099 with 256 GB, and $ 1,299 with 512 GB. As expected, it is available in practically all companies, and although each of them has its own promotions, we can assure you that in all it will cost practically the same.
conclusioniPhone 12 Pro Maxin practically all comparable segments; but its improvements will not seem "so" spectacular, if what you are using is a 2019 model that, moreover, has the same operating system: iOS14.
And the 5G? We have said it several times. It will depend on your coverage area, and how effective it is, since even in areas that supposedly already have 5G, the speed is not always so spectacular. Let's hope that in a few years this will finally take hold.
What is good to note is that Apple has put on the market a new line of phones, all with 5G capacity, and it has not raised prices for that. In other words: there is no 12 Pro LTE or 4G model for $ 999 - a price that was guessed for months - and "another model" 12 Pro 5G that costs 100 or 200 dollars more. They are all in your price range, and all with 5G. Maybe Apple took a little while to get on this bandwagon, but it has done well.
If you have an iPhone X or older, you might consider upgrading. You will feel the change in speed, in the quality of the screen, in the photos and videos. It's not cheap, but it's not much more expensive than competing flagships either. In recent years, in fact, it has been the other manufacturers who have raised their prices, in circumstances that Apple has kept them in the expected margin.
Whether you are an Apple user or not, you have the iPhone 11, X, or earlier, if you decide on the iPhone 12 Pro you will enjoy it. And you may even start to use it that you weren't used to before. It only remains to admit it: Apple has done very well. Once again.
